Why Proper Eavestrough Systems Matter for Sherwood Park Homes
Keeping water away from your home starts with a properly designed drainage system. Eavestroughs and downspouts work together to control rainwater and snowmelt before they can damage your foundation, roofline, or landscaping.
Foundation Protection
Sherwood Park’s 70s-era core has decades-old foundations that depend on working drainage. When eavestroughs fail on those homes, water reaches the foundation fast and produces basement moisture issues.
Roofline & Fascia Protection
Overflowing or sagging eavestroughs spill water onto fascia and soffits. Glen Allan and other 1970s Sherwood Park homes have wood fascia that absorbs that moisture and rots over a single wet season.
Landscaping Preservation
Sherwood Park’s mature urban canopy makes for great-looking yards, but uncontrolled gutter runoff scours mulch from beds, exposes tree roots, and undermines the grading those mature trees rely on.
Alberta Weather Durability
Sherwood Park gets roughly 124 cm of snow and 366 mm of rain annually, plus summer thunderstorms — the June 2025 storm dropped up to 75 mm of rain in hours. Our systems are sized for those bursts.
Our Eavestrough Services
Reliable eavestrough and gutter services for homeowners in Edmonton, St. Albert, Morinville, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Stony Plain, Sherwood Park, and surrounding areas.
New Eavestrough Installation
Protect your home with professionally installed seamless aluminum eavestroughs customized to the exact measurements of your home. Our systems are designed for efficient water flow and long-term durability in Alberta conditions.
Eavestrough Repair & Gutter Repairs
We repair leaks, sagging sections, drainage issues, loose brackets, separated joints, and damaged downspouts. Fast repairs help restore proper water flow and prevent additional exterior damage.
Eavestrough Replacement
If your current system is rusted, failing, or constantly overflowing, we can replace it with a modern seamless eavestrough system built for long-term performance and cleaner aesthetics.
Downspout Extensions & Drainage Redirection
Proper downspout placement is critical for protecting your foundation. We install extensions and drainage solutions that direct water safely away from your home.
Gutter Guards & Routine Maintenance
Reduce debris buildup and improve year-round performance with gutter guards and routine cleaning services. Homes in mature Sherwood Park neighbourhoods like Glen Allan and Mills Haven often benefit from added protection against leaves and debris.
Soffit & Fascia Services
Damaged soffit and fascia can affect ventilation, moisture control, and curb appeal. We provide complete soffit and fascia repair and replacement services to help protect your entire roofline system.
Common Eavestrough Problems We See in Sherwood Park
Sherwood Park’s mature 1970s core, urban tree canopy, and newer outer subdivisions produce a distinct set of eavestrough issues we see across our service routes:
- Heavy debris loads from mature canopy in Glen Allan and Mills Haven
- Overflow during summer thunderstorm bursts
- Ice damming on 1970s rooflines with limited eaves insulation
- Sagging from snow and ice load on long original runs
- Seam leaks on aging sectional systems past service life
- Fascia rot behind back-pitched or undersized gutters
- Downspouts terminating too close to mature foundations
- Splash pad settling on newer Summerwood or Aspen Trails lots
- Hail-dented downspouts and gutters from severe storms
- Foundation pooling where roots have shifted lot grading
Older Sherwood Park areas like Glen Allan and Mills Haven mainly deal with debris, system age, and root-shifted grading, while Summerwood and Aspen Trails homes more often need downspout and splash pad adjustments as new lots settle.
Should You Repair or Replace Your Eavestroughs?
Not every drainage issue requires a full replacement. In many cases, targeted repairs can restore proper performance and extend the life of your current system.
Repair May Be the Right Option If:
- The problem is isolated to one section
- You have a minor leak or loose bracket
- The system is still structurally sound
- Drainage issues are caused by clogs or slope adjustments
- Damage is limited and repairable
Replacement Is Often Better If:
- Your system frequently overflows during storms
- Multiple sections are sagging or separating
- Rust or corrosion is widespread
- You have recurring leaks at seams and corners
- Downspout placement is ineffective throughout the property
- Your existing gutters are outdated sectional systems
How Our Eavestrough Installation Process Works
Every project starts with a detailed inspection of your eavestrough system, roofline, and drainage performance. We look for leaks, sag, slope issues, fascia damage, downspout problems, and signs of past overflow.
In Sherwood Park we factor in the mature urban canopy in Glen Allan and Mills Haven — heavy seasonal debris loads can mask underlying slope problems — and we check newer Summerwood and Aspen Trails lots for downspout and grading corrections that show up two or three years post-possession.
From there we recommend the right next step — repair, cleaning, drainage redirection, or full replacement.
Once the inspection is complete, we provide honest recommendations based on your home’s specific needs, layout, and budget. Some homes only require targeted repairs or slope adjustments, while others benefit from a complete seamless eavestrough replacement.
We explain:
- The condition of your current system
- Areas causing drainage problems
- Recommended repair or replacement options
- Material choices and system upgrades
- Downspout placement improvements
- Optional additions like gutter guards
- Estimated timelines and project costs
Our team takes the time to answer questions clearly so you understand exactly what work is being completed and why it matters for protecting your home.
Before installation or repairs begin, we carefully prepare the work area to help protect your home, landscaping, driveway, and exterior surfaces. Proper preparation helps ensure the project runs smoothly and safely from start to finish.
This stage may include:
- Securing ladders and safety equipment
- Removing damaged or outdated materials
- Protecting nearby landscaping and walkways
- Clearing debris and existing blockages
- Preparing fascia areas for new installation
If soffit or fascia damage is discovered during preparation, we address those issues before completing the new eavestrough installation to ensure the entire system functions properly.
Once preparation is complete, our crew begins the installation, replacement, or repair process using durable materials and proven installation methods designed for Alberta weather conditions.
For new installations, we custom-fit seamless aluminum eavestroughs to the exact measurements of your home. Proper slope and fastening are critical for efficient water flow, especially during heavy rainfall and rapid snowmelt conditions.
Our installation process includes:
- Precision measurements for seamless fit
- Secure fastening for long-term durability
- Proper slope adjustment for water flow
- Sealed corners and joints to reduce leaks
- Strategic downspout placement for drainage efficiency
- Clean finishing for improved curb appeal
For repair projects, we restore proper function by repairing leaks, replacing damaged sections, correcting drainage issues, securing loose brackets, and improving water flow throughout the system.
After installation or repair, we walk every run again to confirm slope, water flow, fastener security, downspout positioning, and seam integrity meet our standards.
We also review the work with you, answer any final questions, and leave maintenance recommendations sized to your roofline and the canopy around the property.
The result is a clean drainage system built to protect your Sherwood Park home through Alberta winters, spring thaw, and summer storms — year after year.

Just had Cosy top off my attic to R60 with Weathershield insulation. The guys were on time and did a fantastic job. Before starting the job they went through the process with me and then proceeded with laying out plastic to protect my floors and walls. Once they stretched out the hose to pump the insulation through and sprayed the WeatherShield in the attic. After removing the blower hose, plastic and tools, the vacuumed their work area. in addition to energy savings we will receive, we have noticed a quieter upstairs from the sound damping effect from the extra insulation. Highly recommend this company. Thank you, Clarence SPosted on Google![]()

Mike and his team at Cosy Insulation truly impressed us with our attic insulation upgrade to an R-50 value using Weathershield™ loose-fill cellulose fiber insulation. Peter and Bruce, the installers, were not only friendly but also highly professional. They worked with remarkable efficiency and left the place spotless after the installation. Mike's pricing is very competitive, making Cosy Insulation an excellent choice for attic insulation upgrades. I highly recommend their services.Posted on Google![]()

Sherwood Park Eavestrough FAQs
Simple explanations about eavestroughs, common problems, and how our team helps improve efficiency.
Common signs include sagging, recurring leaks, rust, overflow, hail damage, and pooling near the foundation. In Sherwood Park, mature-canopy debris can mask slope problems on Glen Allan and Mills Haven systems, so failures often show up as overflow during summer storms before they’re visible from the ground. A professional inspection clarifies repair versus replacement.
Yes. Many leaking eavestrough systems can be repaired by sealing joints, replacing damaged sections, correcting slope issues, or securing loose brackets. Prompt repairs help prevent additional moisture damage to your fascia, siding, and foundation.
Yes. We install seamless aluminum eavestrough systems custom-fit to the exact measurements of your home. Seamless systems reduce the risk of leaks, improve water flow, and provide a cleaner appearance compared to traditional sectional gutters.
Most Sherwood Park homes need cleaning two to three times a year. The mature canopy in Glen Allan, Mills Haven, and Sherwood Heights produces heavier debris loads than newer Summerwood or Aspen Trails lots, and a fall clean before freeze-up is essential to keep downspouts clear.
Yes. Gutter guards help reduce debris buildup, improve drainage performance, and lower the frequency of cleanings. They are especially helpful for homes surrounded by trees or properties that regularly experience clogged gutters.
Sherwood Park is a hamlet within Strathcona County, not a separate city — permits are issued by Strathcona County, not by a Sherwood Park municipal office. Routine eavestrough replacement on an existing home generally doesn’t require a permit, but related fascia, soffit, or structural work may. We check with County permits on any project that needs review.
Seamless aluminum eavestrough systems typically last 20–30 years when properly installed and maintained. Alberta weather conditions, including snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles, can shorten the lifespan of poorly installed systems.
Yes. We provide complete soffit and fascia repair and replacement services as part of our exterior protection solutions. Damaged fascia can affect eavestrough performance and lead to additional moisture problems around the roofline.
Both neighbourhoods sit under the mature urban canopy that gives Sherwood Park its character. Spruce, birch, and poplar shed continuously through fall, and that debris collects in eavestroughs faster than on newer-build lots. Two to three cleans a year is normal, with a clean right before freeze-up.
Yes. Downspout extensions help direct water further away from your foundation and reduce the risk of pooling near your home. Proper drainage improvements are especially important during spring melt and heavy summer rainstorms.
